Who are we?
Batley Community Choir is a non-profit community choir based in Batley, West Yorkshire.
We are a choir that is united in its love for music, who join together to sing and occasionally perform for the community and local events.
With a wonderful varied range of music from all different eras and styles, the choir has fun practising and performing songs from ABBA, Frank Sinatra, Westlife, Musicals, and so on.
We enjoy performing mainly 2 - 3 concerts a year with small local events inbetween like Christmas caroling at the Mill shopping centre, performing in local care homes and the Run for Jo event.
We choose to perform non-profit raising money for local charities and local events as it is important to us that we help support our Batley community.
Our values are based on:
-
Love of singing
-
personal commitment demonstrated by regular attendance at rehearsals and gigs, learning repertoire, supporting the leadership and enjoying the choir experience
-
mutual respect
-
democracy in our decision-making processes
-
honesty, demonstrated by open communication about issues and concerns
-
musical growth, demonstrated by the development of new repertoire, soloists, arrangements, conductors and performance opportunities
The choir practices at 7:15pm on Mondays at All Saints Church, Batley (aka Batley Parish Church). You'll find us in the community room at the rear of the church.
You are more than welcome to come for a free first taster session and we'd love to say hello.
